My name is Jamie Hastings and I started Start Smart Academy in my home due to my dissatisfaction with the school system in New Jersey. As a teacher for 13 years, I saw how this system profited off of students, but did not provide the necessary crucial academic, social and emotional skills needed to become productive individuals. Guided by the principles of providing brain based and pedagogical practices, the school was created with an understanding that each child has a divine purpose and gift that most educational models cannot measure. Aligned with the state of New Jersey academic standards, and the concept of multi intelligences, our school equips students with foundational skills for a higher probability of success with data driven results
